CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – JANUARY 2021
During the coronavirus pandemic Percy Short & Cuthbert remains open for business and we continue to provide legal services to our existing and new clients. Our office base will be closed to visitors and members of the public until the current third lockdown restrictions have been lifted, but remains open to our solicitors with adjusted working conditions, including increased remote working from home. Our objective is to remain fully operational as much as possible, although it is likely that there will be some delays in the current unprecedent times.
Please do not send correspondence by post, courier or DX, and send all correspondence and documents to us by email, either to the fee earner dealing with the matter or to email@example.com
We will continue to take telephone calls and emails from you, so please continue with these methods of communication as needed. Any documents can be dropped off at our office through the letterbox, but there may be some delay before we are able to collect and circulate post to the fee earners. Therefore, emailing them will be the quickest option.
We will also respond to all enquiries submitted via email and our Online Enquiry Form on this website, so please continue to send us your enquiries.
We can provide quotations for conveyancing matters. Should you require a quote of our fees for commercial or residential conveyancing, please send your enquiry to firstname.lastname@example.org. We are continuing to progress conveyancing transactions so that once restrictions are lifted, delays to completion are minimised. We can however complete in the following circumstances:
* cash purchases of empty properties that will not require occupation during the Covid-19 restrictions
* purchase and sale of un-occupied properties that you do not intend to occupy immediately on completion until the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted
* purchase of your property under the Right-to-Buy scheme
* lease extensions
* Transfer of Equity
* Equity release
Where necessary your fee earner will be able to arrange virtual meetings via technology such as Zoom by prior arrangement. Face to face meetings with clients will only be possible to arrange at the office strictly by prior arrangement, provided that compliance with the Government’s Covid-19 guidance can be implemented, including social distancing. Alternatively, your fee earner can arrange a telephone conference call.
Personal collection of documents such as deeds and wills will not be possible whilst our office is closed, and we will arrange for these to be sent by secure post and DX where possible. Collections will resume once our office re-opens.
We anticipate there may be some disruption whilst we put our contingency plans in action, and there will likely be some delays in responding to clients and solicitors’ enquiries, although we are doing our best to keep this to a minimum.
We are following the Govenrment’s guidance and we will continue to review the situation to ensure our contingency plans meets the safety of our staff and clients.
